Frugal Zit Zapping!

Pimples are unsightly, and can be traumatic and embarrassing for teens. Those skin care products on TV are so expensive too! So what is a parent to do to help their poor, miserable kid?

Try these frugal folk remedies:

Make a paste out of sugar and water, and dab it on the pimples. After a few minutes, wash it off. Sugar is actually an antibacterial agent, and will kill the germs that are causing the breakout.

Clean your face with a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel. You can find it in the drug store next to the alcohol and peroxide. It is a natural astringent which dries up oily patches on the skin and the zit itself.

Put Crest toothpaste on your pimples and leave it on over night.

Or use my favorite product in the whole wide world---tea tree oil! It is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. A few drops on a cotton ball is all it takes to clear up problem skin and keep it clear.

I am a freelance writer, Reiki master, and educator, with diplomas in teacher's aide and child psychology, and numerous writing courses. I home schooled my son, who was born 10 weeks early and was expected to have developmental and learning lags. In 6th grade, he took an 8th grade standardized achievement test, and scored as a college sophomore in math and English. It inspired me to write a book, which I have given away for free! It is called Make your Kid a Genius, and can be downloaded at my website http://www.irenehelenzundel.com I am passionate about alternative healing methods; especially Reiki, aromatherapy, acupressure, therapeutic massage and music and sound therapy.
